Robert Meeder, PhD. – President

• Responsible for developing and managing all program activity.
• Founded Gateways in 1998 with over 31 years of experience in institutional administration and economic development, including substantial fund raising, strategic planning and partnering experience.

John Bozic, CPA – Vice President

• Responsible for developing Gateways’ Advanced Manufacturing Initiative, assisting with new venture start-up initiatives, and maintaining relationships with Gateways’ external mentoring and advisory partners.
• Joined Gateways in 1998 with over 30 years of business and management experience focused primarily in financial and human resources endeavors within a wide variety of industries.

Bill Miller – Vice President

• Responsible for providing Centers of Technology and regional businesses with manufacturing-related assistance, project management and staff oversight.
• Joined Gateways in 1999 with over 24 years of experience as an entrepreneur founding and managing private companies (MMS, Business Concepts, Vesta Designs, and Prism Fiber Optics) within the Pittsburgh region; previously had eight years of experience serving as a field supervisor and coordinator of the technical training facility for Dravo Corporation’s Engineering Works Division.

Doug Skowron, JD – Director

• Responsible for the management of new venture commercialization.
• Prior to joining Gateways, Mr. Skowron managed a commercial real estate consulting practice with CB Richard Ellis, Pittsburgh where he developed several commercial real estate projects and a master plan for a mixed use technology park; managed all small business and real estate lending programs for the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh in financing over 100 small business and real estate projects (including start-up businesses); and developed new economic development initiatives with the PA Governor’s Office of Policy Development.

Jessica Lee, JD – Director

• Responsible for business development matters, including strategic planning, funding and partnering and for assistance with the new business commercialization process.
• For over ten years,  has advised early-stage and emerging growth businesses as an investment banker, outside general counsel and business/investment counsel, and institutional venture capital investor with an emphasis on the financial, technology and life sciences sectors.

Debra Parrish, JD – Director

• Responsible for business development and legal matters, including strategic planning, funding and partnering with the new life science companies in the laboratory diagnostics area.
• For over fourteen years, has advised health care entities, academic institutions, start-ups, inventors and entrepreneurs, particularly in the life sciences and technology sectors, as outside general counsel and business/intellectual property and regulatory counsel.
